Our Promise to You
Purebred Dachshund Pups provides a written health guarantee with every puppy. The goal is simple: you should bring your puppy home with confidence, clear documentation, and realistic expectations. Puppies are raised with careful routines, daily handling, and age appropriate care. Families receive guidance for the first days at home because early consistency supports long term health. A guarantee matters most when it is easy to understand, so this page explains what is covered, what we provide, and what we ask of you to keep your puppy protected.
Veterinary Care Before Pickup
Each puppy is monitored daily for growth, appetite, energy, stool quality, and overall condition. Puppies receive age appropriate veterinary care and preventative support based on the needs of their stage of development. You will receive written records showing what your puppy has received before going home. A puppy is only cleared for pickup when they are eating well, maintaining healthy energy, and showing normal development for their age. If something does not look right, we address it before a puppy is released to a new home.
What You Receive With Your Puppy
Families go home with a written health guarantee and a clear packet of records. This includes vaccination and deworming information, plus any notes relevant to your puppy’s care. We also provide basic transition guidance such as feeding schedule, routine tips, and ways to reduce stress during the first week. If you have questions after pickup, support is available. A healthy start is a shared effort, and clear information helps you maintain the same stability your puppy experienced before going home.
Guarantee Coverage
The health guarantee covers serious hereditary or congenital conditions that significantly affect a puppy’s quality of life. A licensed veterinarian must confirm the diagnosis. If a covered condition is confirmed within the guarantee period stated in your contract, we will work with you to provide a fair resolution based on the terms of your written agreement. Options typically include a replacement puppy when available or another agreed solution outlined in the contract. Clear communication matters, so we ask families to contact us promptly if a concern arises.
What Is Not Covered
No breeder can guarantee that a puppy will never become sick, and some issues are outside anyone’s control. The health guarantee does not cover conditions caused by accidents, injury, neglect, poor nutrition, exposure to parasites after pickup, or unsafe environments. It also does not cover normal, manageable puppy matters such as minor skin irritation, stress related digestive upset after moving homes, or routine training challenges. Vet costs for normal wellness care after pickup are the responsibility of the new owner.
Your First Veterinary Exam Requirement
A prompt wellness exam helps protect your puppy and confirms a healthy baseline. Families must schedule a veterinary exam within the timeframe listed in your contract after pickup. The vet visit should include a full physical exam and any testing your veterinarian recommends. If a concern is found, notify Purebred Dachshund Pups within the same timeframe so we can review the findings and help you determine next steps. Written documentation from your veterinarian is required for any guarantee claim.
Keeping the Guarantee Valid
Healthy puppies need consistent care. To keep the health guarantee valid, you must provide proper food, clean water, safe housing, parasite prevention recommended by your veterinarian, and routine veterinary care. Vaccinations must be continued on schedule, and your puppy should not be exposed to high risk environments until your veterinarian confirms it is safe. Overfeeding and free feeding can create avoidable strain on a growing Dachshund, so we recommend measured meals and steady weight management. Training should be positive and age appropriate, avoiding harsh methods that can cause stress.
Socialization and Safety Guidance
Socialization is important, yet safety comes first. Puppies should meet kind people and experience new sounds gradually. Early experiences should be controlled and clean, avoiding unknown dogs and public ground in busy areas until vaccinations are complete. Stress can affect digestion and appetite, so keep the first week calm. Limit long car trips, loud gatherings, and too many visitors at once. Encourage rest between play sessions. Safe socialization builds confidence without risking exposure to illness during the most vulnerable stage.
Training, Handling, and Physical Development
Dachshunds have a unique build, so body care is part of health care. Use support when lifting, keep play on safe surfaces, and discourage jumping on and off furniture during early growth. Families should monitor weight, since extra pounds can stress joints and the spine. Nail trims and gentle grooming help your puppy stay comfortable and avoid injury. Crate routines support rest and help reduce risky roaming. A strong start with good habits supports long term wellness.
If You Have a Health Concern
Contact us as soon as you notice anything unusual such as low appetite lasting beyond a short adjustment period, repeated vomiting, persistent diarrhea, extreme lethargy, coughing, or signs of pain. Quick action can prevent a minor issue from becoming serious. Send details, timing, photos if helpful, and any vet paperwork you have. We will respond with guidance and help you coordinate next steps. Your veterinarian should always be your primary source for medical diagnosis and treatment.
Claim Process Overview
Claims must be supported by a written diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian. Documentation should include exam notes, test results when applicable, and a clear statement of the diagnosis. The timeline for reporting concerns and submitting documents is listed in your written health guarantee. Once we receive the information, we review the details with you and determine what applies under the contract. A calm, organized process protects you, protects the puppy, and keeps the solution focused on the puppy’s best interest.
A Note About Long Term Health
Genetics matter, yet long term health also depends on good care. Nutrition, weight management, safe handling, parasite prevention, and routine vet visits support a lifetime of wellness. We will always share what we know about your puppy’s start and answer reasonable questions as your puppy grows. Families who follow a consistent routine usually see the best results, especially during the first year.
